Less Sleep, 2008
Format: Audio/Video performance with real-time software control
Photo from a live performance of Less Sleep in Torun, Poland, November 2008.
Less Sleep is a collaboration between Keep Adding and Geoff White (Aeroc). Keep Adding provides colorful video imagery that continually shifts focus and slowly illustrates a storyline. Geoff White's music is performed live and sync'd to the video, allowing White to manipulate and sync to the visuals in real-time.
Vivid hallucinations, heightened senses and a feeling of incredible creativity may occur after 48 hours (or less) of being in a state of sleeplessness. There is even a history of sleep deprivation being used by different schools of religious mystics as a form of asceticism or to heighten spiritual awareness. Less Sleep is more or less a recollection of memories, images and sound that meld into a dream-like atmosphere inspired by the landscapes of New Mexico.
